The Hanok Heritage

For our ancestors, gazing at the heavens was more than mere admiration—it was essential to sustaining life and culture. In the Joseon era, astronomy guided the agricultural calendar and seasonal cycles, while constellations were used to predict the seasons and lead the lives of the people. The Big Dipper and the tale of the Cowherd and Weaver Star were seen as guiding lights, illuminating night paths and teaching harmony in human life through the order of the heavens.

The Hanok Heritage Stargazing Program reinterprets the constellations once studied by Joseon astronomers. Under the clear night sky, guests can discover the stars for themselves while experiencing the wisdom and stories of ancestors who read the seasons and found guidance for life through the heavens.
